Little, nasty, creepy-crawlies
Live under my bed
Ugly, horrid, spooky things
Just waiting to be fed
Each night, I'd pull the covers up
And wait until the dawn
Hoping against hope that then
The Nasties would be gone
Nasties, Nasties, little Nasties
Hungry for my flesh
I had to get them out of here
While my courage was still fresh
And so, one night, I got fed up
Of hiding like a mouse
I decided that, right then and there
"No more Nasties in this house!"
I grabbed a bat and water gun
From the chest beside my bed
And tried to block the scary thoughts
From entering my head
Nasties, Nasties, little Nasties
Making my heart pound
Hiding within every crevice
Just waiting to be found
I crept slowly down the hall
Trying not to make a sound
For the shadows and the creepers
Liked to follow me around
And then a monstrous roaring cry
I screamed and leaped with fright
For there, just in front of me
Was the beast that roamed the night
Nasty, Nasty, giant Nasty!
Fangs dripping with spit
I knew my end was coming soon
Oh good Lord, this was it!
But the beast, it did not eat me
As I had half-expected
Instead it simply smiled at me
And I knew we were connected
With one long claw, it motioned "come"
And with this strange new trust
I took three steps toward the beast
Whose scales looked like rust
"Nasties, Nasties, little Nasties,"
It whispered softly then
"we're not here to hunt you down
Just know we are your friends
You have a troubled life ahead
Full of bullying and spite
But you can call on us, you know
Us creatures of the night."
And then it tucked me right back in
And kissed me on the cheek
And said "We are all proud of you
And in no way are you weak."
Nasties, Nasties, friendly Nasties
Doing what they do
Be careful to be kind to me
Or I'll send them after you!
